IBM SaaS has an out-of-the-box capability for monitoring and alerting. This information is surfaced in the form of Gray logs within the platform however there is no option available to integrate & exchange this information with other third-party applications like Splunk. Organisations like John Lewis & Waitrose invested significantly in developing an end-to-end monitoring capability. Splunk provides an end to end visibility of information (functional and non-functional) flow across the organisation. This provides a bird's eye view for the business & operations team to investigate any issues and identify dependencies effectively. The lack of logging integration will break the flow of information and force the operations team to look at various platforms to access the logs and investigate the issue. John Lewis currently have metadata written into the Sterling application/agent/integration log files - which are then sent to Splunk index via splunk forwarders. IBM OMoC platform does not provide the ability to extract the application/agent/integration logs on a real time/scheduled basis, which is required to keep our existing monitoring/alerting and operation reporting dashboards running. This enhancement request is for the platform to provide this capability to extract the out-of-box logs that are generated. We are not looking for end-end integration with our Splunk tool, just the ability to extract the logs.
We are looking at alternate options post our discussion with IBM Onboarding Architect, however initial indications are that - any of these options will require significant development work to feed the required data to our inhouse integration and will introduce additional work and potentially impact our Go Live timelines. Request is to review the enhancement request and let us know the feasibility of getting this included in the roadmap for release before Q1 next year.

How will this idea be used?
This is a critical capability to the John Lewis Partnership as we have invested significantly in end to end alerting & monitoring functionality. Sterling OMS is part of a wider landscape that is well integrated currently. We will be introducing a gap in the monitoring capability of we cannot integrate the OMoC data with Splunk. This will impact our Ops process and the costs. |

Converting this requirement for "Log streaming" and are to be consider for future. IBM will evaluate the log provider mechanism that best fit for majority of the use case which may or may not be via Graylog.
IBM has made improvement in the overall data export performance on the OMoC environments, please explore if this is an option.
At this time, the is no plan to expand on the GrayLog as this is bounded by vendor agreements.
Hi,
Our organization is also looking at leveraging the graylogs capabilities with Splunk. As this would help us achieve the required alerting across and beyond the platform.
Thanks
Hi Rajesh, thank you for submitting your idea. We are currently working on general enhancements for data import/export across applications and will include this scenario as part of that effort. The timeline is still being determined, but this specific requirement would be unlikely for Q1.
