Create & Manage dashboards in Graylogs

IBM SaaS platform has the Graylogs application to view and understand the OMS application behaviour through its logs. In addition to standard information, we have enabled custom logging as part of wider organisation alerting & monitoring capability.

We are able to view these logs in the form of text as and when it is logged, but we are unable to generate meaningful insights with out-of-the-box functionality. We raised an enhancement (OH-I-75) in Aug 2022, requesting an integration mechanism to access this log data so that we can interface it with our enterprise application (Splunk). This enhancement has been accepted but not planned for delivery yet.

The alternative option to building interfaces, is to create required dashboards & alerting mechanism in the Graylogs itself. IBM has disabled this option to generate dashboard from Graylogs.

This enhancement request is to enable this functionality of creating custom dashboards and alerts using the Graylogs aplication in SaaS platform.

How will this idea be used?

The operations team is striving hard to identify issues proactively by analysing patterns and behaviours. This information is critical in supporting that requirement so that the customer experience is improved. These dashboards are also useful to triage and resolve any production issues once it has occurred.

Having access to the log data in a better representation (dashboards & alerts) will help the operations team to resolve the issues faster and maintain our service levels.
