The enhancement will enable enterprises to configure sterling module (e.g., Contact Center, Store Engagement, Console) access/ login approach independently of the module. This would allow the enterprise to choose, per module, either log in via SSO with IBM Federated ID or login via legacy/custom approach.
Enterprises will benefit from the enhancement to have store users use the short employee code to log into OMS store UI, while keeping enterprise ID as login for the other users who access the corporate order management systems such as COM, SBC, SMCFS, etc).
There is no extension point currently available to implement this custom, so product enhancement is needed. The following is how we think it should be implemented. The retail (SOM) users are authenticated using external authentication implemented through yfs.authentication.type.class. This capability should continue to be available after the enhancement so, enterprises can implement custom authentication for applications that are not selected to use federated enterprise login. The application that is chosen to use federated enterprise login should have the ability to turn on the ibmID/Federation capability.

How will this idea be used?
As a retail OMS store user, I should have the ability to use the 8-digit employee code to log in to OMS store UI. As a corporate user using the OMS Call center for commerce, I should be able to use my enterprise login for login and could do deep links from other federated applications that use SAML 2.0 into the OMS call center for commerce. As a corporate user using OMS console, OMS System management console, API tester, etc. I should be able to use enterprise credentials for login. |
