Lock Ship nodes at Delivery method level (Enhancement for IBM Sterling OMS v9.5)

This is very much needed for the retailers to maintain a granular Inventory visibility within store network and also to increase the business revenue by showing availability for a specific delivery mode instead of blocking the availability for the complete store.

What is your industry? Retail
How will this idea be used?

Use case :

Inventory restriction for an item on a store for Ship from store delivery method however the business still wants to allow Store Pick.

Use case Details :

In the Omni world, the inventory maintained in the store needs to be sourced at the convenience of the customer experience and the business model.

Let's say, if the business wants to support inventory visibility only for a specific delivery method (say Pickup and not Ship from store) on an item, it is not straight forward in the IBM Sterling v9.5. The product supports dirty node concept only at ship node level.

We can enhance the product (extending the table YFS_INVENTORY_ NODE_CONTROL to include DELIVERY_METHOD column) to have dirty node lock at Delivery method level. This way, business can restrict the selling for a specific delivery method.

Ex : 1 Store A has 100 units inventory of Item A. Business supports both Pickup and Ship from store model. Business sees that shipping this item through Ship From Store is not possible for next x days.

So they lock the Item-Node in the table for x days. This lock is preventing Pickup orders for x days. So the business sales is significantly impacted.

After the implementation,

Item-Node lock for x days will be applied for ShipFromStore delivery method.

So Ecom will still be able to take Pickup orders for the next x days and beyond.

Ex: 2 : During pandemic , the business cannot allow curbside pickup for certain Items (SKU's) on specific stores but the business can perform Ship From Store for those stores.

Hi. The information is located in the "What's New" section of the Inventory Visibility Documentation site under the February 2021 section as "Node fulfillment overrides". The link to the Node fulfillment options page is https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/inventory-visibility?topic=data-node-fulfillment-options.
