This portal is to open public enhancement requests for IBM Sterling products and services. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

The preview release is out and we got the feedback from Global Payments team. We are working towards the eGA targeting early December, 2024.
We are accepting the idea and considering it future releases. We'll internally explore on the tech feasibility and respond with details shortly. Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

My company handles OLTP on HPNS for more than 100+ banks/issuers. IBM has been a major business partner and software vendor to our company. HPNS released its OS software of L17.08/J06.22 and above years ago to support a maximum record length of 27576 bytes for a Format 2 Entry-Sequenced file with data block length of 32768 bytes. Due to the business needs and association mandate, we're planning to implement Format 2 Entry-Sequenced files with 10k-byte record length residing on 32k-byte data block for OLTP transaction logs.
According to IBM's Connect:Direct HP NonStop Management Programming Guide, the param BLOCKLEN indicates the length of the buffer used for data that is read from the remote Sterling Connect:Direct for HPNS node then written to a user initiated process. The value ranges from 4096 bytes to the current of 32000 bytes.
Another param RECLEN represents the length of each record used for data that is either read from or written to a remote Sterling Connect:Direct for HPNS node. Valid values range from 4096 bytes to 32000 bytes.
We strongly desire for IBM to take speedy actions of making enhancement for its C:D on HPNS to facilitate the file transfer from HPNS to IBM node for an HPNS Format 2 Entry-Sequenced File with a record length of 10k bytes on 32k data block.
Your immediate attention to our company's request for vendor support is much appreciated to continue fostering our business relationship.
Increasing the record length and block size would support positive growth.
As our business needs grow, we need the ability to send larger record sizes.
Since August of 2017, the HP NonStop operating systems have supported record sizes as large as 27,648 bytes.
Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your efforts and willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas. We will soon review the same in the coming weeks and shall get back with a response.
Thanks,
Product Management
