ValidateItem flag behavior same as PROD items even for PS/DS service item types

For a business requirement, don't want to have a defined PS item in OMS but still want to proceed with order creation and fulfillment.

To achieve this, tried using a flag given by Product called ValidateItem as N at OrderLine level during order creation process which is -

ValidateItem as per definition:

"Indicates if item needs to be validated against catalog. It overrides configuration rule for validating the item if passed non-blank. When set to "N", this order line will not be considered for min/max ordered quantity validation. Must be set to Y to apply entitlement logic."

But, it did not work as expected. It gave error as "YFS10437: Item(Item Id and UOM) does not exist"

while using Item-UOM which is not defined under Product Services/Delivery Services in Application Manager->Catalog Management-> PS.

As per Java docs the error YFS10437 occurs "If item needs to be validated (based on process type attribute or if ItemGroupCode is PS or DS) then it need to be defined in YFS_ITEM, or be accessible through the getItemDetails user exit."

Can you enable ValidateItem flag for PS/DS items as well?

What is your industry? Retail
How will this idea be used?

This will enable the client to not to have dependency on Sterling to have PS item set up present to use the services since different countries may have different type of services and their unit of measure which makes it must to have them in Sterling. This will give liberty to use a service ItemID with different unit of measure as well based on market terms.

    Hello Muku,

Since there can be other configuration associated to a PS/DS item necessary for fulfillment, the expectation is that these items should exist in the system. Please provide more details on your business scenario to help us better understand if there is a valid use case for a change. I will deactivate this case based on the discussions held so far - please submit a new RFE with additional use case details if needed.

    Hi Muku,

Thank you for submitting your idea. Can you please provide some additional context on the business case behind this scenario? Generally there is a much smaller set of PS/DS items than PROD items, and a few such items can be defined ahead of time and used for specific services. Can you please elaborate on the business requirement to not have these defined in OMS?
