SIGNON command could provide a parameter for the message file and process library

It is useful for the SIGNON command to provide additional CDz software file specification parameters like the NETMAP parameter. This allows a user to use the same JCL procedure but able to override DDs within the control cards of CDz's SYSIN without having to change the JCL DD (adding/removing/ or changing the DD concatenation).

The DMBATCH program JCL requires the DDs for NETMAP, Process library, and message file. We feel that providing extra parameters for the SIGNON command like the NETMAP parameter but for the message file and process library will give JCL batch users more options to be flexible without having to change a shared JCL procedure.

How will this idea be used?

It allows for there to be a shared JCL procedure deployed to different z/OS CD DTFs where users code the require DSNs in the SYSIN for DMBATCH instead of changing the JCL procedure or their execution JCL that calls the JCL procedure.

    Thank you Chris for looking this over and seeing if it was feasible. No problem with it being declined. We just thought to ask in case this flexibility could be provided. I do realize that the message file is seen as being something that is really used by all CDz DTFs and should not have multiple copies under different filenames. Thanks again.

    Thank you for opening this enhancement request with IBM. I have reviewed it thoroughly with my team, but unfortunately won't be able to accept this. We looked at the complexity of this request and gauged broader market interest. Unfortunately we weren't able to identify much interest in the request and identified that it would be a significant effort with the potential to negatively impact other customers use. Because of that I must decline this request. I do appreciate you opening it and would encourage you to use the tool again if you think of other ideas we should consider.
