File Extraction Notification

Within the global mailbox administrator, we can see in the extraction criteria tab of mailbox explorer the date/time that a file is extracted either by file delivery from SFG/GM or by the client pulling the file from the mailbox.

Our issue is that when clients pull files from us, they often come to us later saying they tried to pull but the file isn't available. This is usually because they've already pulled the file. They have asked if there is any way they can be notified when a file is extracted.

We know we can deliver a notification from SFG/ICC when a file is delivered, but there does not appear to be an event code associated with the actual change of the extraction count.

We have opened a case asking if ICC has this functionality and we were told it does not. We also have a case with SFG/B2B asking if there is an event code (or something similar) we can notify off of, but fear the same response.

What is your industry? Financial Markets
How will this idea be used?

Provide additional notification options for clients that pull files, and hopefully cut down on service requests.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. Your request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme aligns with our current roadmap and, as such, is being tagged for future consideration and is part of our long-term strategy. We cannot commit to a delivery window at this time, but this is something we agree would be beneficial in the product.

    We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

    Please note: IBM's statements regarding its plans, directions, and intent are subject to change or withdrawal without notice at IBM's sole discretion.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. I truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations and ideas.

    I need a little more information to understand your idea.

    • For traditional mailbox does this work as expected?

    • Do you get an email notification (you or your partner) when the file is extracted and you are not getting that for global mailbox?

    Assuming that you or your partner have subscribed to SFG notifications (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/b2b-integrator/6.2.0?topic=help-subscribing-notifications) there should be about 28 different file events that can trigger a notification. Would this satisfy what you are looking for?

    I'm looking forward to your response. Once I can develop a clear picture of your request, I'll be able to let you know if we can add your idea to our future offering roadmap.

    Just to add some follow-up.  Neither ICC or SFG has out-of-the-box functionality that keeps track of when a client pulls a file down from SFG (both cases have been closed).  At best, if this information is needed, they would need to reach out to us, and we can look in either:

    • Traditional SFG - B2Bi -> Deployment -> Mailboxes -> Messages
    • Global Mailbox - B2Bi -> Global Mailbox -> Mailbox Administration

    These are manual, file specific methods to determine if/when a file was extracted.  I would think this information would be important enough to be more easily accessible/reportable.
