Global Mailbox should be able to out-of-the-box provide specific details on replication between DCs. I should be able to easily find out baseline statistics for replication time between servers. I should be able to see counts for how many files are replicated at a given time or time range. We have been contacted by clients indicating they logged into one DC, logged out, logged back in and were directed (by load-balancer) to the other DC, and saw differences between the two. We can't tell them a standard replication timeframe between the two DCs, because the information is not readily available, nor is there any reporting/logging to give us an idea if the replication time is static or if there are different replication times in heavy or light processing times.

How will this idea be used?
It could be an early warning sign that something is wrong if replication is not being accomplished in a reasonable amount of time. It can also be provided to clients that experience an inconsistency in what they see as they land on different DCs. |

Can I get some details on this reporting out of ICC? I checked ICC and I'm not seeing any out-of-the-box reporting for Global Mailbox (or replication).
Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.
Global Mailbox sends detailed replication statistics to Control Center, along with monitoring Global Mailbox server and component health. While currently there is no correlation between a file name and payload ID, Control Center can generate reports on things like average replication time between DCs for small and large files, etc. Given this reporting already exists, we'd suggest you test this feature in Control Center to see if it meets your needs.
Thank you for bringing your ideas to us. If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation.
Yeah. This comment is very interesting.
We are looking at GM's solution and it appears to be a black box. External customers should have transparent information about their files and should not care whether the bank is using GM or not.
An external client must have a single view of your files to avoid confusion and misunderstandings.
What is IBM's vision of this?
