IV doesn't allow syncing negative inventory postion like GIV does.

When an Absolute sync is done for Item-Node combination with -ve value IV ignores it. Where as we have this functionality in GIV

What is your industry? Retail
How will this idea be used?

If the ERP system inventory is -ve and IV only considers it as 0 when any adjustment will be created that would cause inventory to be out of sync.
Assuming if there was a issue in Trickle feed from source system and Sync is trying to correct the values.
ERP Inventory: -8 IV :0
Adjustment of 15 units should result in ERP to be 7 where as IV 15 causing Out of sync and we have no way of identifying such records in IV as there is no alerts we can set up.

    Hi Sampson Wong,

Its real use case if OMS intract with ERP system or external POS system send back the sales feed to OMS. Please consider it and provide functinality same as GIV.

    Hi Sampson Wong,

Thank you for providing the thought process but still unclear on how does allowing -ve using adjust supply is ok but not sync? Making the Inventory -ve using adjust supply doesn't it impact the Distribution Group availability?

    Regards,

The enhancement request is against Inventory Visibility standard practice. Since IV is the source of truth adding a -ve value to a supply seems to be counter productive as it will affect the Distribution Group availability and the overall correctness of availability. IV has decided not to support this behavior from day one because it can cause maintainability issue from the customer perspective, one mistake in supply number can lead to oversell/undersell scenario and it will be difficult to identify what caused it.

If customer wants to do a sync, please provide the exact inventory value that is sitting on a product shelf. Eg if there are 5 qty, sync to 5.

If insisted to do a negative, please use adjust supply instead of supply sync.

This RFE needs to be taken into deeper consideration in IV before we can accept this request. At best, we will have to offer a tenant level setting as this behavior is not desirable for every client. As IV will be the new functionality replacing GIV in near future, IBM plans to minimize risks of erroneous transactions.
