Apply maintenance on a multi-LPAR CDPLEX

Currently, to apply maintenance to a CDPLEX that is in more than one LPARs, we must stop the entire CDPLEX and apply maintenance to the entire group at the same time. In a case to support they told that this is so because the Manager could have problems when working with different versions of servers.

How will this idea be used?

The idea is that Manager can seamlessly work with different versions of servers that are in different LPARs while propagating maintenance.


This way we would not have to stop the entire CDPLEX group to apply maintenance.

    We disagree with this argument.

    What are the technical reasons why CD software cannot do it while other IBM software like IMS, DB2 or CICS can do it without problem?

    IMSplex, DB2plex and CICSplex are working with this functionality from the beginning of their plex state. Of course, CD is another IBM software but our goal (and your) is to increase its availability learning from the best (IMS-DB2-CICS and so on).

    We think that this idea must be under review and it should not be marked "out of scope".

    Thank you for opening this enhancement request with IBM. I have reviewed it with my team throughly and discussed possibilities. Unfortunately due to technical limitations we don't know of a way that we can reliably provide this functionality without potentially impacting CDPLEX functionality. Because of that I must decline this request. Please don't hesitate to open additional enhancement request that we should consider however.
