Use alias/CNAME for the DNS/IP address in a CD netmap

We have some Connect Direct UNIX for Linux nodes running on AWS ec2 instances. These CD nodes run behind a load balancer. When a new deployment is ran, it is possible for the DNS and IPs of the load balancer may change. Our AWS egineer implemented a CNAME for the load balancers so we wouldn't have to update the DNS or IP address in a net map that references them in a different CD node. I have learned that the CD net map doesn't currently support aliases/CNAMEs.

What is your industry? Non-Industry Specific
How will this idea be used?

This will be used for maintaining our CD net maps more easily.

James, you can close/cancel this enhancement request. I believe I was mixing things up with a similar enhancement request for the initparms. CNAME works as the hostname in the snode entry as long a the telnet is successful. Thanks.

    Hey Brian,

Can you please reopen the case TS015588020 and tell Support it was at L3’s request. At a minimum, we need cdcustrpt and a stat log file (S2024MMDD.xxx) that captures the problem.

    Thanks,

    Product Management

    Hey Brian,

I see the description as you learnt / were told CD netmap doesn't support Aliases/CNAMEs. Was it communicated by IBM Support ? If yes, Would you be able to share case details for further analysis ?

    Thanks,

    James
