Password Vault support for CD web Services

This is to add to CD Web Services integration with Password Vault to avoid storing passwords inside the application. That should include "admin" user as well.

Currently CD Web Services allows for cert-based authentication (for API) or user/password authentication (for API/GUI) based on credentials stored in CD Web Services database. The aim is to get rid of storing user passwords inside the application.

Two proposed solutions:

  • CD Web Services integration with IBM SEAS

  • Password Exit option in CD Web Services (similar to what we have in SEAS)

What is your industry? Banking
How will this idea be used?

That would allow API users to switch from cert-based authentication to users with passwords managed by Password Vaults.

That would also add an option to connect to GUI using users with passwords managed by Password Vaults.
