Expose SKU-Level Movement History in Store Engagement (SIM)

Problem Statement

Currently, Store Engagement (SIM) does not provide a way for store associates to view historical inventory movements at the SKU level within the application. When inventory discrepancies occur—such as missing units or inventory found in unexpected locations —users lack a complete and unified view of all activity impacting that SKU. Typically this leads to support requests for pulling details from the backend.

Proposed Enhancement

Introduce a SKU-level Movement History view within SIM, accessible directly from Inventory Lookup or item details. (essentially developing a portlet or module that can link into event webhooks for visibility in the product)

This capability should:

  • Display a chronological history of all movements impacting a SKU

  • Include both user-initiated and system-generated events

  • Show what changed, when it changed, who changed it, and the movement type

  • Surface event types such as adjustments, moves, putaway completions, and system updates in a clear format

  • Allow users to filter or search to quickly find relevant activity

Business Value

This enhancement would significantly improve store operations and support effectiveness by:

  • Enabling faster and more accurate discrepancy resolution

  • Reducing reliance on IT and cross-system research

  • Improving associate productivity during investigations

  • Increasing transparency and accountability for inventory movements

  • Strengthening confidence in on-hand inventory accuracy

Use Case

A store associate is investigating a missing unit for a SKU. Instead of checking multiple systems or escalating to support, they open the SKU in SIM and view a timeline of recent events—such as an adjustment, transfer, or putaway—allowing them to quickly identify what caused the discrepancy.
