Enable End to End Correlation ID Propagation for User Request Tracing for IBM B2Bi MyFileGateway users.

Our File Transfer Service provides capability to external bank users to upload download files through IBM MyFileGateway SSO through a multi‑hop authentication and file‑transfer flow involving identity, SSP proxy, perimeter, and B2Bi MyFileGateway application components.

Currently, IBM Sterling Secure Proxy does not support propagation of correlation identifiers (trace IDs) received from upstream systems across all downstream components and logs. As a result:

  • End‑to‑end user request tracing across the full File Transfer flow is not possible
  • Logs across systems remain disconnected and non‑correlatable
  • BizOps and Operations teams must rely on manual log stitching and SME knowledge during incidents
  • Mean Time to Diagnose (MTTD) and MTTR increase significantly during customer‑impacting events

This limitation prevents effective end‑to‑end observability, especially for authentication, session propagation, and MyFileGateway access issues. Downstream components (SSP PS, SEAS, B2Bi PS, B2Bi, MyFileGateway) should generate log statement with correlation ID / trace ID for the user request but today due to missing such identifiers, making it impossible to reconstruct a user journey.

In Scope

  • Implement End‑to‑end traceability of external user authentication and navigation flow in SSP, SSP PS, SEAS, B2Bi MyFileGateway
  • Correlated logging across:
    • SSP, SSP PS, SEAS - Authentication
    • SEAS - Authorization
    • SSP, SSP PS , B2Bi - Session propagation
    • B2Bi MyFileGateway Application access
