Support configuration of Kafka producer properties for SIP internal Kafka interactions

Customers operating SIP in large-scale Kafka environments need the ability to tune Kafka producer behavior for internal SIP Kafka topics to optimize network usage, batching efficiency, and storage utilization.

Current Limitation
IBM Engineering confirmed that Kafka producer settings used for SIP internal Kafka interactions are not formally exposed for customer configuration. The existing IVCUSTOVR_INVENTORY__SERVICE__KAFKA_CONTAINER_* settings apply only to producers publishing to event topics and are not applicable to internal SIP Kafka interactions.

Requested Capability
Provide a supported mechanism to configure selected Kafka producer properties for SIP internal Kafka topics, including:

  • compression.type
  • linger.ms
  • batch.size
  • client.rack

Expected Outcome
Expose supported Kafka producer tuning parameters through SIP configuration (for example, SIPEnvironment or equivalent configuration mechanism), with appropriate validation and guardrails to prevent unsupported values from adversely impacting SIP processing.
