This portal is to open public enhancement requests for IBM Sterling products and services. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Support Processing Time in Promising EDD/CalculateCheckoutAssignments (CCA) Calculations and optimizer calculations at delivery service level

Business Requirement

We use SIP Promising and Optimization to determine fulfilment options and estimated delivery dates. But Processing Time is not considered by the Promising service and Optimizer service at a delivery service level when generating sourcing solutions.

As a result, Promising may generate sourcing solutions without accounting for the time required to process the order at the fulfilment node for the delivery service. This can result in sourcing solutions and promise dates that do not fully reflect the node's actual processing requirements for the delivery service

Requested Enhancement

Enhance SIP Promising and optimizer to consider the configured Processing Time at delivery service level for a node when generating sourcing solutions.

The calculation should account for the applicable processing duration based on delivery service and available operating/capacity periods when determining whether a sourcing option can fulfill the order within the required timeframe.

Expected Outcome

Promising should only generate sourcing solutions that are feasible considering:

Inventory availability
Node capacity/operating availability
Applicable Processing Time at a delivery service level (eg. standard delivery service can have higher processing hours than next day delivery services, etc)
Other existing Promising constraints
Optimization can then evaluate and rank the feasible sourcing solutions based on optimization strategy

Business Value

This will provide more accurate sourcing decisions and EDD/CCA results by ensuring that the time required to process an order at the fulfillment node is considered for a delivery service during the initial promising calculation.

Example Scenarios

Node calendar- Off on Sat

Capacity - Doesn't matter for Sat

Processing hours - 48hrs

Cut off time for standard delivery - 5pm

Order placed - Fri 1pm

Carrier Pick up for standard delivery - 7pm

Expected Ship Date - Mon 7pm.(skipped sat for processing)

============================

Node calendar- Off on Sat

Capacity - Doesn't matter for Sat

Processing hours - 2hrs

Cut off time for Next day delivery delivery - 6pm

Order placed - Fri 7 pm

Carrier Pick up for standard delivery - 7 pm

Expected Ship Date - Sun 7pm.(skipped sat for processing)
