Sync Supply to have a capability to just report the mismatches and not apply the differences.

We want a capability in SIP to just report / publish an event with the mismatches evaluated during the inventory synchronization flow and not always apply the same.

Something similar to the "ApplyDifferences" capability in the GIV world.

There are a subset of special care items which are manually curate. The fulfillment manager wants to check the supply picture and compare against their current before appling the supply.
It will be a two stage process;
1) Fulfillment manager push a copy of supply update to SIP
2) SIP compares current supply picture for a small set of items, produce a differential report
3) Fulfillment manager verify the differential report and apply the change or reject the change.

[Note the data set is for a small set of manually driven items for locations that are not fully automated]

What is your industry? Retail
How will this idea be used?

We have a use case where business would like to report mismatches 6 days a week and only truly sync and apply mismatches once a week. The daily reconcile report will help business determine any major inventory mismatches and also determine the root cause for the same. Will also help them determine if a need of ad hoc inventory sync is required if the mismatches are high.

    Similar functionality already existed, please explore the supply transparency API which enables the SI to realized if the supply record had been updated/skipped/errored/published. Using these information along with supply audit, the fulfillment manager will be able to pin point the discrepancy picture as needed.

    In regard to this exact request on finding mismatch in a sync report then apply the difference is generally not recommended.
    As a rule of thumb, for inventory synchronization, it is better to ensure the inventory snapshot is updated immediately vs delaying the update after a manual check. The further apart between the original sync time vs actual update time will lead to larger error margin on an inventory system.

    Please explore the documentation on supply transparency here
