We have noticed that Connect Direct for z/OS requests users submiting a job to have READ access to the CSFSERV when using any of the GCM ciphers.
We want to use the highest available cipher without compromising the security by granting unrequired rights to users that don´t perform any activity related to security.
To describe the situation:
We have a user CDUSER (ilustrative user) that starts the STCs. That user has all the required rights to the Cryptographic services facility granted when configuring Secure Plus.
We expect Secure Plus to handle the encryption of the transmision and the data.
However, when a user submits a job to ask connect direct to send a file, those same rights are required for the user submiting a job.
I give an example of the RACF error:
ICH408I,USER(USER ) GROUP(GROUP ) NAME(EXAMPLE NAME )
CSF1SKE CL(CSFSERV )
INSUFFICIENT ACCESS AUTHORITY
ACCESS INTENT(READ ) ACCESS ALLOWED(NONE )

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. After discussing with development,we believe, implementing this change would violate the current security considerations, moreover this change also has broader impact to the Connect:Direct Architecture and does not align with broader roadmap. For that reason I am putting this as "Not under consideration" and we can revisit this once we see interest from more customers (via Voting or Comments)
I understand that this is not the answer you were expecting however if you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation. Appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Product Management
