Requesting API functionality to retrieve customer-managed user and group data within the SCBN Hub.

The customer currently leverages APIs available in other SaaS platforms to automatically retrieve user lists, apply role‑based filtering, and generate audit reports that are shared with designated approvers. This approach significantly reduces manual effort, optimizes resource utilization, and eliminates repetitive administrative tasks. However, similar API capabilities are not available for customer‑managed users and groups accessing applications via SCBN Hub. As a result, the customer must rely on manual processes for audits and access reviews. The customer expects comparable API functionality within SCBN Hub to enable automated user and group data retrieval, align with existing SaaS and IBM Cloud practices, and support efficient governance and compliance workflows.

    Dear Seshu Babu,

Thank you for taking the time to submit this RFE and for clearly outlining your governance and automation requirements. We appreciate the detailed context you shared around how similar APIs are used across other SaaS platforms to streamline audits, access reviews, and compliance workflows.

This request highlights an important gap in SCBN Hub around the lack of APIs to retrieve customer‑managed user and group data. Without such APIs, customers are forced to rely on manual processes for audits and access reviews, increasing operational effort and risk. Providing read‑only APIs to retrieve users, groups, roles, and application access would align SCBN Hub with common SaaS and IBM Cloud practices, enabling automated governance, improved compliance, and reduced administrative overhead.

    Questions for Clarification:

To better evaluate scope, feasibility, and alignment with the SCBN Hub roadmap, it would be helpful to clarify:

    1. Data scope

      • What specific data should the API expose (users, groups, roles, application access, status, timestamps)?

    2. Primary use case

      • Is this mainly for audit/compliance reporting, or also for ongoing access reviews and automation?

    3. Scale & frequency

      • How frequently would these APIs be called, and what is the approximate number of users/groups per tenant?

    4. Access control

      • Which SCBN Hub roles should be permitted to call these APIs?

      • Should the APIs be strictly read‑only, at least initially?

    5. Alignment expectations

      • Are there specific IBM Cloud or other SaaS APIs whose behavior or structure you would expect SCBN Hub to align with?

Your feedback on these points will help ensure the solution is designed to meet governance needs while remaining secure, scalable, and consistent with SCBN Hub’s access model.

Thanks again for sharing this thoughtful enhancement request—we value your input and partnership in shaping the platform.
