Enable Map Deletion Functionality in Config Hub (Parity With Config Center)

In Config Center, users had the ability to directly delete maps through the UI using a dedicated Delete button. This allowed quick correction when:

  • A wrong map was imported by mistake

  • A map needed to be removed or renamed

  • A test or obsolete version of a map needed cleanup

This capability ensured agility and reduced dependency on development teams.

Current Challenge in Config Hub

After migration to Config Hub, the ability to delete maps no longer exists in the UI.

  • There is no delete option available for maps.

  • To remove a map from the system, users must:

    1. Raise a GitHub ticket to the development team

    2. Wait for the ticket to be picked up and processed

    3. Track progress manually

This process is:

  • Time‑consuming

  • Operationally inefficient

  • Dependent on developer availability

  • Prone to delays even for simple mistakes such as wrong import or renaming needs

How will this idea be used?

Introduce a user‑accessible “Delete Map” capability in Config Hub, similar to what was available in Config Center, to restore self‑service control for on boarding team.

Proposed Features

  • A dedicated Delete button in the Config Hub UI (visible to relevant roles: Admin / Config Manager).

  • Safety controls such as:

    • Confirmation dialog (“Are you sure?”)

    • Role‑based permissions

    • Soft deletion (optional)

    • Audit tracking of deleted maps

Expected Benefits

  • Faster self‑service corrections

  • Reduced load on development teams

  • Improved configuration agility and accuracy

  • Parity in functionality between Config Center → Config Hub

  • Cleaner map management lifecycle

    Hi Amit,

Thank you for submitting this RFE and outlining the detailed use cases. This is a very valid requirement—map deletion was an important capability in Config Center, and restoring it in Config Hub will definitely improve self‑service, cleanup workflows, and overall configuration agility for onboarding teams.

We’ve added this to our evaluation pipeline. The next steps are to review feasibility with the engineering team and assess where we can position this on the roadmap. I’ll keep you updated as we progress.

Really appreciate you taking the time to capture this enhancement request.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Manoj
