Configurable Mandatory Comments for Approval Tasks

Current Behavior

Currently, the comment field in an Approval Task is optional by default, and there is no configuration available to enforce comment entry during approval actions.

While this behavior may be suitable for some scenarios, it does not meet the requirements of many business processes where capturing the approver's justification is mandatory for governance, audit, and compliance purposes.

Business Need

Different workflows have different requirements regarding approval comments.

In certain processes, approvers must provide a reason for their decision, such as Budget approvals, Pull Requests etc.

For high-volume or routine approvals, organizations may prefer to keep comments optional to streamline the user experience.

Requested Enhancement

Provide a configurable setting within the Approval Task definition that allows workflow designers to choose whether comments are mandatory or optional.
