Support Additional methods of smtp authentication

PEM currently only supports basic authentication for SMTP. ( user id, password ).

At most, it does allow you to select between smtp and smtps. However, smtp providers have been moving away from basic authentication for some time.

PEM does not allow you to select different security methods such as TLS, STARTTLS.

Fewer email providers support basic authentication.

An example is outlook 365 which is currently removing that functionality.

How will this idea be used?

PEM is email dependent. It needs to be able to connect to email providers using current technology. Quickly and easily.

Searching around for smtp services, some allow basic credentials, some do not. Which is limiting the choices as to which service can be purchased.

By limiting the customer to basic authentication methods, this is placing a financial burden on the client.

Eric, we are currently working on addressing support for OAuth 2.0 for the email servers in addition to basic authentication. It is on our near term roadmap.
