The user experience of the Upload button in UI dialogs could be improved greatly.
Currently, not counting the browser's file-selection window, it takes 5 mouse clicks and typing in a name to upload a new file:
1) Click the Upload button in the UI dialog
2) Click "Upload" in Available Files window
3) Type in a name
4) Click "Browse"
5) Select file using browser's file-selection dialogs
6) Click "Upload"
7) Click "OK"
If a partner is uploading multiple files, this results in a very tedious and tiring user experience.
Some possible ideas for improvement:
a) Default the name in step 3 above to the filename of the file. This reduces the minimum number of steps to just the 5 mouse clicks.
b) Provide a new UI component that goes straight to the browser file-selection dialog, skipping all other steps above. This reduces the minimum number of steps to just 1 mouse click.
c) Provide a new UI component (or as part of b above) to allow drag/drop file upload onto the UI component. This provides a separate user-friendly way to upload a file to PEM.

How will this idea be used?
Streamlining the user experience results in happier customers and partners, making them more likely to use and recommend PEM for other use cases. |

While these are suggestions that we believe have merit, we don't believe that we are going to be able to address in the medium term. We will continue to consider this as we look at user experience improvements in the longer term future.
