OMS should read Kafka ACK messages and persist them for tracking and audit purposes.

OMS should read Kafka ACK messages and persist them for tracking and audit purposes.

We are currently enabling the direct Kafka integration between OMS and Kafka. As part of this implementation, we would like to store the acknowledgment (ACK) messages received from Kafka. Currently OMS does not store or read Kafka ACK messages.

A new OMS enhancement is required to consume and store ACK messages received from Kafka.

How will this idea be used?

Our objective is to store the Kafka acknowledgment (ACK) message to confirm whether OMS has successfully published the message. If a downstream application reports that it did not receive a message from OMS, we can verify the corresponding ACK message stored in OMS and use that information to determine whether the message was successfully sent.

The primary goal is to ensure that OMS has successfully published the message to Kafka. In cases where an issue occurs on the Kafka side or within downstream processing, the stored ACK message will help reconcile missing order information. Based on this verification, we can identify any missed messages and, if necessary, republish them to Kafka.
