TS022478094 - Shipment line qty change having inconsistent behavoir

Introduce a new field called Initial Shipment Quantity that stores the shipment quantity at the time the shipment is created. Unlike the existing Quantity field, this value must remain unchanged if the shipment quantity is modified later. The field should also be exposed in Order Hub as an additional column in the Shipment Line Details table.

How will this idea be used?

This enhancement would provide functionality comparable to the existing Original Order Quantity concept at the shipment level and would significantly improve reporting and operational analysis.

    Business Justification

Our client frequently adjusts shipment quantities due to operational reasons such as low or out-of-stock situations, demand changes, or manual fulfillment decisions. While these changes are necessary, they overwrite the original shipment quantity, making it impossible to determine the initially planned shipment demand.

An immutable Initial Shipment Quantity would provide a reliable baseline for:

    • comparing planned versus adjusted shipment quantities,

    • analyzing the reasons and frequency of shipment quantity changes,

    • reporting on fulfillment quality and operational performance, and

    • improving business transparency and auditability.
