Introduce native, supported integration capabilities in IBM Sterling Order Management (OMS) for Azure Service Bus (ASB) and Azure Event Hubs (AEH), similar in approach to the existing Kafka integration framework.

IBM Sterling OMS is widely deployed in hybrid architectures where enterprises are increasingly using Azure‑native messaging platforms for cloud and external system integrations.

Currently:

  • Sterling OMS supports Kafka-based integrations

  • There is no out‑of‑the‑box (OOB) or framework-supported integration with Azure Service Bus or Azure Event Hubs

  • Customers are forced to build and maintain custom intermediary microservices, increasing operational complexity and long‑term maintenance cost

We request IBM to evaluate and provide native connectors or a supported integration framework within Sterling OMS for:

  • Consuming messages/events from Azure Service Bus / Event Hubs

  • Publishing OMS outbound messages and business events to Azure Service Bus / Event Hubs

This capability would bring Azure messaging to parity with Kafka within the Sterling integration ecosystem.

What is your industry? Retail
How will this idea be used?
  • Inbound integrations:
External cloud‑native systems publishing events/messages to Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs can be directly consumed by Sterling OMS.

  • Outbound integrations:
Sterling OMS can publish business events, order lifecycle updates, and integration messages directly to Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs for downstream cloud consumers.

This enables seamless on‑prem OMS to Azure cloud integration without custom-built intermediary services.
