Externalizing Token Validation in IBM Sterling Order Service

Currently, IBM Sterling Order Service (OS) supports externalizing token generation; however, token validation is performed internally within OS using the issuer’s static public key.

The primary challenge is that this dynamic key rotation makes the current OS approach—which relies on a static, pre-configured public key for internal validation—impractical and incompatible with modern security standards.

To comply with our security directive and ensure secure integration with industry-standard Identity Providers (IdPs) that use key rotation, we require the ability to externalize token validation for OS. This would mirror the existing support for externalized token generation.
