As Order Service becomes the primary source of truth for orders, we have been evaluating disaster recovery strategies for Elastic and Cassandra services.
One area of concern is potential data loss during OMS order archival into OS.
Given Cassandra's regular backups and the limitation of restoring only the previous backup data in a disaster, we're proposing a delayed deletion strategy. This would involve retaining OMS order data until after the next Cassandra backup, ensuring recently archived orders aren't lost during a disaster recovery. This approach aims to improve overall data resilience.
