Codes List Data to be filtered by Region

Codes list currently have list of allowed data to be entered based on list provided by Alcoa requirements. For some data fields the list is too long, when there are list specific to region / company , entire list is visible to all users. Most users have access to specific partition set and they see more data that is not applicable to them (total 10800 combinations). Most of the types while selecting the values, there are possibilities that they choose data not applicable to them, which impacts data quality and desired results are not met. 

Alcoa is using this list to select the right combination of data across 5 fields, only when valid values are selected the material is eligible to be manually exported, if the combination is not right, then an error code of D with red band appears and the user reselects the right values. 

With right data in place, user now exports the data.

Alcoa need your help to restrict the values of the fields below per region:

  •  Product Form
  • Item Category – Product Type & Local 1
  • Local 2 & Local 3

If we do not restrict these drop-down lists per region, we will have a lot of queries and complaints from the end users. They may not know which values to select, or they may select the wrong combination of values and think the system is not working as expected. Total 10800 combinations without filtering by Regions.

Please escalate this request inside IBM? We believe the back-and-forth of testing/issues remediation in the last few weeks show the current setup is quite complex and may cause a lot of confusion for the end users.

 We would appreciate if the request for this deployment (i.e. restrict these 3 drop-down lists per region) to be completed by the end of this week if possible as next week as we are behind of project delivery date.

    We will add this functionality into the product, we don't yet have a date when we can schedule this but will keep you updated as we know more.

    Hello Nhi,


    Great to hear from you! Unfortunately this capability is not yet available in the product. The estimate to develop this is around 4 weeks of development time as there is some significant changes required to how data fields and codes list work in the back end. Given this is the first time we have had this requirement for the product we don't yet have a slot in which we can prioritise this work but will look at when we can schedule this as soon as possible.

    As an interim measure you can work with your services team to look at ways to minimise any errors, there are a number of options such as uploading the complete list in the backend so only one can be chosen.


    We will let you know once we have scheduled the development work to do the full resolution.
