DEVOPS deployment to LINUX servers

Devops has been around for a while, with automated testing and deployment. WTX should provide tool to auto deploy (similar to map build). This would take the PC tested map and allow it to be deployed to a server for further testing in a LINUX environment.

Tool should have a function to promote to an environment or environments based on succesfull desktop testing.

Tool would of course have to be configured to tell it when and where but that 'configuration' should be stored in a text file that contains the LINUX IP address and directories and reference to the msl or dtx.ini as needed.

Tool should allow for more than one promote and track the user who promoted it. This would enable developers to test on PC and then promote to say a system test region and then a user acceptance region etc, with different build options.

What is your industry? Travel & Transportation
How will this idea be used?

A future build of ITX Design studio would have this function with a configurable tab to allow server, directory and other material to be entered.

Build would auto deploy based on a run or build button to the server details provided in the server config folder.

Tracking of who deployed and when would be written to the logs in WTX for the server in question, with ID and IP of person who deployed as well as map, msl or other component changed.

Users on server would be able to see who deployed what and where in the log folders on server that would be written to WTX install directory.

User on PC would be able to see in their history deployments via PC log that also captured above information.

Deploying from PC would enable multiple environments so can move from PC to UAT and then to SYSTEM test. etc.

    Hi Steven,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM.

There are a variety of Command Line Utility options for customers using the ITX Launcher and Design Server tooling. Please see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ste/11.0.0?topic=commands-introduction for a listing of them in the product documentation. For example, here are the instructions for deploying systems via SFTP: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ste/11.0.0?topic=designer-ssftpdeploy-utility-command

For customers using the new User Interface and Design Server, we offer the ability to predefine deployment packages and UI assisted deployment. Attached is a screen shot.

    Thanks,

    Mike Lamb
