ITXA - Operating System Specific jar files for the ITXA packs of all supported ITXA versions needs to be created and stored in IBM site, to share with the ITXA customers, during ITXA installation

For the packs installation in ITXA, we need a jar file. This jar file creation needs Windows OS, and the jar files should need to be OS-specific (either Linux, Windows, or AIX). In case any jar file contains another OS version, apart from the customer’s environment operating system, it will create a performance issue in ITXA.

By creating the ITXA packs jar files and uploading them to the IBM site for all supported ITXA versions, we can reduce repetitive workload during ITXA installation, increase security, and reduce windows dependencies for the customers, who are using Linux/AIX environment.

What is your industry? Non-Industry Specific
How will this idea be used?

OS-specific jar files for the ITXA packs can be created for all the supported ITXA versions and stored on the IBM site, and we can share the link with the ITXA customers to download the file directly in their system.

Right now, the packs(i.e. hcp, fcp, sce) contain the jar files for ALL OS like spepkhcp_any.any_10.2.1.0.187.zip contains spe_hc_maps_for_ALL.jar and spe_hc_pack_for_ALL.jar.
However, to avoid performance issues in ITXA, it is recommended to create OS and OS-architecture(32-bit/64-bit) specific jar files for the required pack(like spe_hc_pack_for_WINDOWS_WTX_64bit.jar) and deploy them in the server. We need a WINDOWS operating system to create such OS and OS-architecture-specific jar files. It would be helpful to reduce WINDOWS OS dependencies, and less time-consuming if the zip files of packs included all the OS and OS-architecture-specific jar files(such as spe_hc_pack_for_WINDOWS_WTX_64bit.jar, spe_hc_pack_for_WINDOWS_WTX_32bit.jar, spe_hc_pack_for_AIX_WTX_64bit.jar, etc.), or we can give any separate download URLs for the same. Please let me know if any further clarity is required.

Also is there a performnce issue that exists today with the way they are built?

Hi Souradip. Can you clarify exactly what problem you are trying to solve? Should the files be moved from fixcentral to somewhere else? Should they be released as .jars vs .tgzs, should they be compiled separately for each OS or all of the above?
