Can the logic behind CKPT.DAYS be extended so that this function in invoked on a regular basis (e.g. daily) instead of only when z/OS Connect:Direct is started?
When the checkpoint dataset becomes full, the only way to defragment it or clear out redundant checkpoint records is to bring the z/OS Connect:Direct node down resulting in an outage.
Some large organisations require their production z/OS Connect:Direct nodes to run 24x7x365 and any outage has a big impact.
What is your industry? | Banking |
How will this idea be used?
Issues like the one we experienced in January can be avoided if redundant checkpoint records are deleted on a regular basis |
