The beauty of zOS-to-zOS COPYs is the inherent ability to automatically transfer the source DCB information to the SNODE side for proper dataset allocations.
If the source DCB changes, the process does not need to be altered. This generic process can be re-used for several various datasets, HOWEVER, once the keyword DATACLAS= is added to the process, all this goes away.

How will this idea be used?
In a zOS COPY process, in conjunction with using DATACLASs parameter, have the ability to automatically pass along the Source DCB information. |

Thanks for requesting this RFE. The z/OS storage team at our company made a similar request. The reason being is that it is also easier to take advantage of Connect Direct's zEDC feature.
Thanks for the update.

Thank you for opening this enhancement request with IBM. I have reviewed it with my team and we are in agreement that changing how the "dataclass=" parameter is used so that processes can be more generic would be a worthwhile enhancement. I am accepting this request and we will look to move it onto the roadmap moving forward.
Sincerely,
Chris Sanders
