Add "listing of buckets" Functions

Thank you Markus for the suggestion. We do not plan to add cloud bucket listing capabilities to File Agent, as bucket discovery and management are native functions provided by cloud storage platforms and their APIs.

File Agent is focused on file transfer and automation. We recommend using the cloud provider’s native tools and APIs for bucket listing and management, while leveraging File Agent for data movement workflows.

We have the following scenarios:

We use CLI commands to check whether files are available on a remote system, and if so, they are downloaded.

In addition, we often need to archive files on the remote system after a transfer. So, once the list was transferred, all files could be moved afterward. This way, we didn’t have any issues if new files were added to the folder in the meantime.

Furthermore, the list option gives us a “resume point”: if the connection is interrupted, we don’t have to transfer all the files again afterward, but only the ones still pending on the list.

Hope this clarifies the “necessities” a bit.

Do you need a new CLI function to list the bucket content , if yes, may we know the purpose ?

If you want to list the content of a bucket and take action on objects, IFA does it.
