PasswordExit caching

To improve performance on high-traffic systems, we propose implementing a password caching option within Connect:Direct's PasswordExit functionality. Instead of fetching a password from the integrated vault for every connection, Connect:Direct will cache the password in its configuration and reuse it until it expires. A new password will only be retrieved from the vault after the cached one has expired.

This could be easy to implement within current Connect:Direct functionality as Connec:Direct stores password in the encrypted format anyway. The change is to update logic of PasswordExit functionality so if PawwordExit is enabled and Cache is enabled as well then application to use logic as described.

What is your industry? Banking
How will this idea be used?

Password Cache option could increase reliability and performance of application by fetching password for the users when it’s really required.

    Hi Slawek,

Current Connect:Direct Windows can have the ability to pull the password from Vault and cache it in the memory but for a limited time of 5 mins. What is Citi's expectation on cache duration ? is it in hrs or mins ?

    Thanks,

    James
