Unified Management of Connect Direct & Integrated File Agent

The current process to start/stop Connect Direct (CD) Integrated File Agent (IFA) requires a user to manually edit the init.parm settings each time they start/stop CD. The user has to manually edit the "cdfa.enable" parameter to "y" or "n" to signal CD to start/stop IFA. CD checks the IFA status on 5 minute intervals and depending on the parameter configured in init.parm, starts/stops IFA. For example, if you set "cdfa.enable = n" and CD finds the IFA running, it will stop the IFA in the next cycle. It will do vice versa if it is set to "y".

The process of starting/stopping CD and IFA could be streamlined into one command to simplify the management of CD/IFA for CD users. Executing the start/stop of IFA in conjunction with the start/stop of CD without manually editing the init/parm "cdfa.enable" parameter would streamline, standardize, and simplify the management of CD and IFA.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. After discussing with development, we believe, this change does not align with broader roadmap and the core design of CD. CD Primarily controls IFA through the init parameter and the ask of controlling thru a command violates the design. For that reason I am putting this as "Not under consideration" and we can revisit this once we see interest from more customers (via Voting or Comments) .

    We are also considering adding HA capability for IFA.
