Check the Write permission on Destination folder without submitting COPY statement

Hi Team,

We are trying out a way if we can check permission on target folder on SNODE, before doing actual transfer. Like we do 'Echo Test" to test if the NDM connectivity is good between 2 NDM nodes. If we can have option in NDM to do 'Echo" test on target folder without sending any file.

e.g. I have a script which can check if destination folder exists.

rtunx process snode=${PROF_CD_SNODE_NAME} class=1

step1 run task snode

sysopts='(cd "${PROF_CD_DESTINATION_FOLDER}")'

pend;

But this cannot guarantee that the COPY step will be successful,as we are not able to confirm the permissions. This will be used as pre-checked before doing actual transfer.

Thanks,

Madhuri

How will this idea be used?

This idea wil be used as pre-checks before going live with any NDM transfer, this is ensure that transfers will not fail with permission issue. This way reduce the number of failures.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. After discussing with development, we believe, this can be easily pulled with executing a run task on remote node to know the actual status rather than checking the Write permission on the destination folder and its an existing functionality. If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation.

    Thanks,

    Product Management
