Connect Direct File Agent for Windows: Lock configurator if in use by another user.

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

In our shop, sometime two or more people could be making updates to the same File Agent configuration.  Currently one users change may not actually get implemented if the configuration is open or updated by another user.  It would be great if there were an enhancement that tells the other user that the File Agent configuration is open by another user.

How will this idea be used?

If this enhanced can be developed, this would prevent multiple users from making updates to the same File Agent configuration.  Only one user would be allowed at a time.  This would ensure that once the File Agent configuration is available for the other user to update, their changes would actually get implemented.

Thank you for your patience as we worked on this request. I'm pleased to say that we've made improvements on how FA configuration is handled in our latest v6.2 release. In this release we've added a last one wins check for FA configuration to avoid conflicts if multiple users are editing the same rule at the same time. The new release is available on Passport Advantage for download.

    Sincerely,

Thank you for opening this enhancement request with IBM.  I have reviewed it with my team and believe this would be a valuable enhancement to Connect:Direct.  I will accept this request to provide this capability and would hope to provide this as a future enhancements to the new C:D Web Console when we look to pull File Agent configuration into the main UI.

    Sincerely,
