Sterling Control Center Monitor Oracle RAC cluster enable multiple service names

We understand that we can't configure two database service names via configCC.sh. We would like to raise an enhancement request to update the configuration in the property files to map two different database service names to the same Oracle RAC environment after the initial configuration via configCC.sh.

In our SFG environment we were able to configure connection string in property files which contains both service names. When we cutover primary Database to DR Database the transition is seamless, the application need not be restarted. The distance between the primary Database and DR Database does not cause any noticeable latencies or negative performances and Primary Database has synchronous replication with the DR Database.

Oracle connection string:

PICC =

(DESCRIPTION_LIST=

(LOAD_BALANCE=off)

(FAILOVER=on)

(DESCRIPTION=

(CONNECT_TIMEOUT=10)(RETRY_COUNT=3)

(ADDRESS_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=on)

(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxxxxxxxx)(PORT=xxxx)))

(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=xxxxxx))

)

(DESCRIPTION=

(CONNECT_TIMEOUT=10)(RETRY_COUNT=3)

(ADDRESS_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=on)

(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxxxxxxxxxx)(PORT=xxxx)))

(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=xxxxxxx))

)

)

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. This would be good addition to Control Center however it is not a current priority and we need to wait until broader customers would be interested in this and we garner more votes to be able to prioritize over other enhancement requests.

    Based on your interaction with support recently on this request, you were suggested some configurations to be done manually, we hope that it helped. Feel free to share reach out if there are any additional questions on the manual workaround.

    Once again, Thank you for bringing your ideas to us. If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation. Appreciate your patience.
