Search Menu Defaults

In SCC Director 6.4.2 ifix03, there are two changes to the default option when searching for objects. These changes to the defaults fundamentally change the functionality of those searches, requiring manual changes to those menus to restore the previous search capabilities. (Details are in the "Additional Details" section below.)

I would want to see a restoration of the previous default search options. Alternately, I would suggest giving an SCC administrator the ability to modify the default menu option. Least likely to happen, but a "nice to have" option, would be for the administrator to select what menu options appear, via an interface rather like how an individual user can change the visible columns and the order of those columns.

As someone who has been in SCC Director daily for about three years, as part of an extranet migration project, being able to search for a particular node on a partial node name ("Contains") has been an invaluable time saver. With nearly 600 nodes in production, and over 700 nodes in our nonproduction environment, I have never had an issue with delayed search results on a partial node name. Having to either know the entire node name, or change the default back to "Contains", slows me down far more than any minute improvement seen in limiting search results to exact matches.

Similarly, after spending so much time in SCC Director modifying netmap configurations based on the node name, searching for nodes configured with legacy extranet IP addresses/ports, or adding descriptions to make identification of external client nodes faster, a default search based on Buffer Size provides zero benefit. I have to change that to Node Name now, every time. Alphabetical order does not make sense when the first option in that list is not something likely to be searched on.
