Support SAML-Compliant Single Logout (SLO) Using Browser Redirect Instead of AJAX/XHR in Sterling myFileGateway 2.0

The Logout function for Sterling myFileGateway (MFG) 2.0 with Sterling Secure Proxy (SSP), Sterling External Authentication Server (SEAS), and IBM Security Verify Access (ISVA/ISAM) as a SAML Identity Provider is incompatible with standard SAML logout patterns, which are designed to operate through front-channel browser redirects or form POSTs, rather than AJAX/XHR requests.

What is your industry? Government
How will this idea be used?

This 'idea' will provide a supported mechanism for SAML enabled environments that allows logout to be performed using a standards compliant browser redirect flow instead of AJAX/XHR.

Solutions that would be used:

  • A configuration option to use browser redirect-based logout.

  • Native support for SAML SLO front-channel logout flows.

  • A logout framework that performs required client-side cleanup before redirecting to the IdP.

  • Elimination of the dependency on AJAX/XHR for logout processing when federated authentication is configured.
