Provide REST API to Renew/Replace CA Digital Certificate Content Without Changing systemCertId in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator

We need a supported REST API or automation method in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator to renew or replace the actual content of an existing CA Digital Certificate while preserving the existing certificate object and systemCertId.

Currently, the available REST APIs do not support this requirement end-to-end:

  • POST /B2BAPIs/svc/cadigitalcertificates supports certData, but it creates/imports a new certificate.

  • PUT /B2BAPIs/svc/cadigitalcertificates/:id updates only metadata fields such as certName, verifyValidity, verifyAuthChain, and certGroups; it does not accept certData.

Because of this, when we use the PUT API, the API returns success and updates the creationOrUpdateTime, but the actual certificate validity dates do not change in the UI. This indicates that the certificate binary/content is not replaced.

Manual UI import/replace allows us to update the certificate content while keeping the existing certificate reference. We need the same capability through a supported API/automation method.

Certificate renewal is a recurring operational activity for partner integrations and MFT/SFG flows. Manual renewal through the IBM Sterling B2B Integrator UI requires human intervention, which increases operational effort, risk of delay, and chance of manual errors.

We want to automate certificate renewal through DevOps pipelines while maintaining the existing B2Bi certificate identity/reference.
