Introduce a native capability in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator to consistently capture and expose real client source IP addresses for both internal and external connections across all protocols, without dependency on SEAS.

Why is it useful?

  • Enables accurate identification of source systems for all file transfers and connections
  • Improves incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Strengthens audit, compliance, and KYC controls by maintaining IP-level traceability
  • Eliminates dependency on SEAS/SSP setups for obtaining client IP visibility

Who would benefit?

  • Platform / Infrastructure teams (like MFT/SI teams)
→ Faster troubleshooting and operational visibility
  • Security & Risk teams
→ Better audit trails, anomaly detection, and compliance reporting
  • Application / Integration teams
→ Easier mapping of partner systems and internal clients
  • Enterprise organizations (Banking/Finance especially)
→ Regulatory compliance, forensic analysis, and governance

How should it work?

  • SI should natively capture source IP for every inbound connection (internal + external)
  • Store IP details in:
    • Session logs
    • Business Process (Process Data)
    • Document metadata / DB tables
  • Make it visible via:
    • Admin UI
    • Logs & reporting
    • APIs
  • Support across all protocols:
    • SFTP, FTP(S), HTTP(S), AS2, Connect:Direct
  • Work independently of SEAS/SSP, while still supporting integration with them if present
