Native Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Support in Sterling B2B Integrator for Enhanced Security

Currently, Sterling B2B Integrator relies on external components (such as SSP) or custom integrations to enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for internal and privileged users. This creates additional complexity and overhead for organizations that require strong authentication controls for compliance and security.

We propose adding native 2FA/MFA capability directly within Sterling B2B Integrator for all user access scenarios, including:

  • Administrative and privileged accounts (e.g., production environments)
  • Break-glass access workflows for temporary elevated privileges
  • Integration with enterprise identity providers (e.g., LDAP/AD, SAML, OAuth) to support modern authentication standards

Benefits:

  • Simplifies deployment by removing dependency on SSP for internal MFA
  • Improves security posture and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provides flexibility for organizations to enforce MFA policies without custom development

This feature should allow configurable options for:

  • Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP)
  • Push notifications via common MFA providers
  • Integration with existing corporate MFA solutions
