Support Oracle RAC in load balance mode

IBM's largest customers have invested heavily to implement Oracle RAC databases for resilience but due to the way B2Bi's database is designed there are performance implications to switching on RAC load balance mode. This forces all queries to a singleton node which can cause performance or reliability issues when that node is severely stressed. Implementing RAC friendly features such as partitioned indexes etc would allow customers to better realise their investment and enable B2Bi/SFG to better scale for very high volumes.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

IBM has evaluated the request and has determined that it cannot be implemented at this time or does not align with our current strategy or roadmap.

We have investigated Oracle RAC load balance mode and found a -40% performance degradation. This was due to some workloads like EDI using incremental counters that need to be synchronized across all cluster nodes that severely impact write performance and the benefits of load balance mode. The DB table structure has not changed and would require a complete refactoring of the B2Bi database schema.

Our DB support statement applies to base DB functionality and we cannot test every configuration or advanced failover features for the DBs we support. If performance degradation is observed, the DB vendor will need to provide assistance.

Thank you for bringing your ideas to us. If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation.

This is very much needed by lot of customers, request IBM team to consider and enhance the product to support Oracle RAC in load balanced mode with optimized SQL queries.
