Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM and thank you for such a detailed test case results. This was incredibly helpful as we discussed this with Engineering.
Download/GETs seem to be fine, but uploads/PUTs can cause a problem filling up the temp directory and potentially crashing the pod.
Your request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme aligns with our current roadmap and your request is now a candidate for a future generally available (GA) release. We need to figure out where we can fit this into our roadmap as we agree this needs to be addressed, especially for container deployments.
If you have any additional feedback or thoughts in the meantime, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation.

An update on this request -- development did further analysis on this use case:
A parameter configuration for temporary files, "source.downloadloc" is available at BP level. If this parameter is configured then files will be downloaded in this location. If the parameter "source.downloadloc" is not configured then it downloads it to default temp location.
This parameter documented. We tested and confirmed on v6200.
