FTP/SFTP File and Folder permissions

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

File and Folder permissions for FTP and SFTP appear to be at the server-level, forcing NTFS security. This isn't necessarily negative, however if we change these permissions, we risk breaking other processes on the server when we only want to allow or prohibit access for specific users.

How will this idea be used?

When a customer logs into our SFTP site, they are automatically taken to the folder we specified in B2Bi's Deployment > Adapter Utilities > FS Virtual Root. We have provided them with 3 initial folders along with the ability to create and delete files in each of these folders. We do not want them to be able to create or delete any folders anywhere, as this would break our internal processes.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

IBM has evaluated the request and has determined that it cannot be implemented at this time or does not align with our current strategy or roadmap.

For FTP/SFTP, we support command policies that allow you to block certain commands from being used by trading partners. You could set up a policy on the FTP/SFTP server to prevent mkdir / rmdir commands from being executed on the client side. This would apply if you are using the filesystem configuration or mailbox configuration on the adapter. See: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/b2b-integrator/6.2.0?topic=policies-command-limiting-overview

Thank you for bringing your ideas to us. If you have any additional feedback, thoughts or ideas, or if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to reply to this message to continue the conversation.
