Code List Metrics - How often used, and when last used

We currently use multiple code lists in our environment. Over the years, these code lists have grown exponentially. Unfortunately, we have no way of easily knowing how often a row within a code list is used, or when the last time that row was used. This would be good information to have so we can identify our heavy hitters, and also determine if a row is no longer needed and can be removed from the code list. This may cause some additional overhead, but I think this would prove valuable in understanding and maintaining the code list.

How will this idea be used?

This could be used to monitor code list row usage, recognize overlap, and help determine if a row is no longer in use and can be removed from the code list.
