"Request for Enhancement" : ability to do explicit SSL ("SSL is optional") be added to the SMTP Send Adapter

We are trying to use the SMTP Send adapter( for Sterling B2B Integrator 6.x version) to connect Office 365 server using port 587, and realized that Sterling could not able make a connection, as SMTP Send adapter supports only two options " SSL cannot be used" and "SSL must be used" (Implicit option) . In that regard we opened a ticket with IBM Support and team found out that existing SMTP Send Adapter does not support explicit option that is "SSL is optional"  feature and which supports to connect Office365 server for port 587.  So IBM suggested us an open RFE request to get this feature.

As this feature is very much needed, please provide us the solution as early as possible

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. Your request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme aligns with our current roadmap and, as such, is being tagged for future consideration. IBM may consider and evaluate any community feedback for your request through activities such as voting and we may reach out to you about this request to discuss additional details with you in the future.

    In our most current release we have added a flag in the properties file at the global level. If the property is enabled, all SMTP adapter instances will inherit this property. In future we are planning to bring this down to the adapter level for more granularity. This is in our backlog for a future release.
